After 10 years (and another 13 before that as New Playwrights Trust) writernet is winding up by March 31st 2009.
A huge thank you to all our friends, partners, board members, funders and supporters with whom we have worked over these years.
Thanks in particular go to those who, in recent times, have helped us to eliminate our projected deficit, so that we could end the organisation well.

writernet (1999-2009) was a national UK based organisation. Our mission was to give dramatic writers the tools they need to build better careers and change the culture in which they work. We worked consistently for 10 years with no regular funding.
One way in which writernet delivered on its mission is that it curated the Playwrights Network.
The Playwrights Network links regional organisations which work to develop playwrights (and sometimes writers working in other media too) across the UK.

....A Hollywood mogul famously decreed that a movie should always open with a map.
In the map at the beginning of the film Casablanca, the map shows what is supposedly Casablanca. However, Casablanca is not that far north. The city actually shown is more like Tangier, as Casablanca, while a coastal city, is actually farther south.
The regions represented on this map have been arbitrarily determined. In practice - work, much like life, is not bound by them. Please therefore be encouraged to explore border territories to find out what might be interesting or useful to you…..
