North West Playwrights is an independent organisation which develops and promotes new writing for theatre. NWP does not have a membership, but anyone over the age of 18 living or working in the North West Arts Council region can submit a play to the Script Reading Service and call for relevant advice.
All plays submitted to the Script Reading Service receive feedback, and outstanding pieces are selected for development through the Workshop Programme, whereby selected writers have the opportunity to develop their scripts with professional directors, actors and dramaturgs.
Writers wishing to submit a play to the Script Reading Service should send a securely bound, clearly typed copy, together with a separate note of their name, address and telephone number, and an appropriate SAE for return of the script, plus cheque for £10.00 made payable to North West Playwrights.
NWP mounts classes and workshops in writing skills, and collaborates with theatre companies and other bodies to provide a range of development opportunities. Details of NWP activities can be found in the bi-monthly subscription newsletter, The Lowdown.
